it never ends :)

I was kind of having an off-day (too much "happy" the past few days, I guess) today. It was cold outside, the sun was behind all these rain clouds, and I wasn't feeling too good.

Until my new phone came knocking on the door (well, the UPS guy actually :p). Yay!

And then my stepdad handed me this small brown envelope addressed to my sister (engk?). Turns out it was a card for me.

I got it around 6pm, just when I was about to call it a night--just in the nick of time. Cos, hey--it made my day. Super.

Salamat, guys. I wish I could give you the real thing, but in the meantime:

it's all good :)

While it wasn't exactly how I pictured my 25th, I have to say that it was one of the best birthdays I've had in years.

Thanks to Mom, Jon and Ninang for my "camera fund", Angel for my impromptu birthday card (hehe), and Anna for my "mature" birthday cake and for making that AVP. And to everyone who took time to answer back to my sister's ad and send pictures and messages--pakyu kayong lahat, hahaha! No seriously--I love you guys *hug*.

Sa lahat ng bumati, nag-text, anything--you guys don't know how much it meant to me. Aylabyu!

What. A. Night.

I should never attempt to throw a surprise party for anyone, ever again. I just end up surprising myself, rather than the person involved. Hehe.

Crazy, crazy, crazy. It's all a blur now. Like a looong slideshow running in my mind. Wahaha.

To everyone that was there: Dax, Annabanana, X, Cheska, Rufi, JP, Joe, Mike, Jika, Jay, Sudar, JB, Foomy, and "Star-of-the-Night" Leni--THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!(or what's left of it :p) Wahahahaha.

08.02.07.

August 2, 2007--would have been my Lola Angel's 91st birthday. Wherever you are Mommy, we hope you're happy :)

August 2, 2007--ang pinaka-astig na gabi sa talambuhay ko ng pagtambay sa Sarah's. AF Invasion, to the max. Panis silang lahat!!!

August 2, 2007--ang araw (o gabi) na hindi ko makakalimutan sa buong buhay ko. Mauuna ko pa sigurong makalimutan ang pangalan ko bago ko makalimutan ang gabing ito. The stuff that legends are made of. Wahaha.

Question: What happens when you put six AF people inside a '76 Volkswagen Beetle?

live like a rockstar, eat like a pig.

Seems to be the motto for summer, hehe. My summer came in a little late, that's why I'm really trying to catch up before the rains start coming in. So if you're wondering why you haven't been seeing me around that often, now you know why.

My family from the States is back in town for a little bit, so we've been going places. In the span of a week, we've had our first Basagan of the sem, been all over Manila, to the beaches of Batangas, and all around Cebu. And there's still more to come, haha. But of course.

Pics to follow...

bebuy in batangas :p

Just got home from a weekend trip to Laiya, San Juan, Batangas with five of my girls (We missed you, Arlene!). I'm a little bit toasted, not to mention a little too tired from the traffic (Do not underestimate the wrath of weekend SLEX traffic!), but completely happy and satisfied that my weekend was put to good use before next week's mountain of workload :)
Leah, Chuk, Mariel, Liv and Seppie: THANKS FOR A REALLY GREAT WEEKEND!!! *mwah*
Nice place--A/C huts, a pool, videoke, clean waters (well, in the morning, that is).
Buffet--hindi pa ba obvious sa title what the whole weekend was about? haha. Thanks to Mariel's mom for the yummy Sunday lunch! You rock, Tita!
Kayaking--Yel and I decided to flex our muscles a bit, after pigging out waaaaay too much on buffet, um, everything. Kayaked for about an hour, which involved ferrying Chuk and Leah in and out of the water :p Super nice kayak keeper named Yulo :)
Karet (?)--the act of harvesting buko by crossing bamboo poles suspended 50 feet in the air between coconut trees. Too bad we weren't able to see a mangkakaret firsthand, but I could just imagine the thrill of doing it.
Trampoline--not so good for not-so-limber 24-year-olds! hahaha
Ancestral houses--was on HTC-mode when Mariel took us to see (and have lunch, ano pa ba?) at her family's ancestral house which dates back to approximately the late 1800's to early 1900's. Met her Inay Deng (a very cool, very fasyon 90-years-young lady), her Mom and Dad (who fed us like there's no tomorrow), her siblings, and a couple of very pilyo but very adorable little boys called Troy and Mac :p Cool house, cool town, cool family. No wonder Yel turned out that way :)
Pictures--of course! http://wanjeloo.multiply.com soon!

today was election day, i had the chance to vote, and i'm glad i did. i know it's going to take much, much more than my one solitary vote to make a huge change in the country, but i'd like to think it's enough to make a small difference :)

groovy. interesting.

They say it comes in threes. Well, two great nights of fun and laughter so far. I wonder when Night 3's gonna be.

Night 1 - Haraya Night of Music
Disco was the theme and from it, lots of happy, groovy tunes and dance moves was to be expected. There weren't that many students (in fact, attendances in these college events undeniably dwindled upon moving in to the new building), but nevertheless, it was a night of great tunes, cool moves and happy memories.

Student performances, although in need of a little polishing, were very much appreciated. The admin and staff were not to be outdone. Joel's band, the Soul Brothers, "rocked the night away" (as Jacko would say). It was fun performing with my Do Not Delay brothers, after nearly a year. I get a little bit sentimental thinking that it may be the last time we take the stage--Joel's graduating and I'm going back to the States (and staying a bit longer) in a few month's time. But as the optimist in me would say, "Don't dwell on the 'what ifs'." After all, with friends, there are no definite goodbyes.

Night 2 - Beat the Geeks and Tomatokick
I was groggy waking up this morning after a tiring (but super fun) Tuesday night. Saku and I were supposed to be in Marikina by 9 to do a site visit on our current renovation project. Boy, was it the worst time ever to do so. Summer's definitely settling in and there's no stopping the UV rays from wreaking havoc into our skins. Ang init!!!! After that, we decided to take a cab back to UP to avoid both heat and traffic. We should have known better.

AF hosted a Beat the Geeks-type competition between students and faculty, as an offering for Haraya Week. Leave it to our professors to leave us in stitches. I will never forget the sight of Prof. Silvestre's pouty I-hate-that-it's-not-going-my-way-kuno face, and Prof. del Castillo's dolphin-enjoying-sex maneuver. My face hurt from laughing too much, and I literally felt my tummy muscles harden (haha, asa!). No big prize was at stake, but I guess it's the spirit of just hanging out as colleagues and ka-lokohans that got the best of all of us.

After a grueling showdown of wits (the word antics might be more appropriate), AF settled down to hold it's Miting de Abanse for candidates for next schoolyear's execom. I was glad to be there to witness these "kids" act and think like mature college student leaders, all for love of the org. Nakaka-taba ng puso. I was happy to hear plans of not just upholding tradition, but more importantly, new ideas to keep the org we love so much strong and alive. It's these times that I feel like not all hope is lost for today's students. I'm happy.

Apparently, most of us were, and that led to dinner and drinks over at Tomatokick. There's just something about that place that makes people act loud and crazy. Maybe it's the good food. Or the laid-back ambiance. Or the cocktails. Or maybe its just the company I was with (no matter how zany, and purple-faced and pukey and mooshi-mooshi people can get, haha!). Leni, Agnes, Dax, Jika, Saku, Janmikebading, JP, Tal, Sudar, X, Jas, Fae, Arni, Rap, Shayne and Mary--thanks for the great evening. Weird but great. Interesting. After a long day at work, you guys just happen to make it seem alright. Salamat! *mwah*

They say it comes in threes. Hmmm. Do I smell freshly-brewed Benguet coffee on the way? Nyahahaha....
